aka ‘’Dutchie’’ started fly fishing at the young age of 12 years old and began fly fishing the Bow River in 1983. His love for the outdoors led to a variety of interests. For a great number of years Richard operated a big game outfitting business near Cold Lake, Alberta He enjoyed hunting white tailed deer & upland birds with his most loved dog, the Brittany Spaniel. He now spends his days guiding on the Bow River and is an avid collector and dealer of fine classic bamboo rods & vintage fly reels.
During these years near Cold Lake Alberta, Richard served in the Canadian Airforce for 21 years. while at the same time was very much into the raiseing & breeding of colour registered quater horses
Richard & wife Wilma have 4 beautiful children; Ashley, Deanne (husband Danny), Rebecca (boyfriend John) & Robert. They also have a brand new grandson, Joshua, and another brand new granddaughter Kayla rae
